One Percent for America (OPA) is an independent, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to reducing the financial barriers to U.S. citizenship. Our unique 1% interest loan helps eligible permanent residents afford the high fees required for naturalization-opening doors to economic mobility, stability, and long-term opportunity. 
 

The Challenge: 
Citizenship is out of reach for millions.

  • Citizenship fees can cost up to $1,400 per person, paid upfront.
  • 9 million immigrants are eligible for citizenship; 52% are low-income.
  • Many rely on high-interest credit cards or predatory loans, forcing them to delay or abandon their goal of becoming American citizens.

Our Solution:  
1% Interest Loans for Citizenship Application Fees

Affordable, Straight Forward Citizenship Loans 

Once approved, borrowers submit the loaned funds together with their citizenship application. They pay back the loan over 12 months at just 1% interest. All OPA borrowers have access to free tools that help build strong credit, economic stability, and long-term financial health.
